wording

! -"thus all information seen here is without any implied warranty of fitness for any purpose or use whatsoever." Oh my, this page needs work. -Edbrown05 10:07, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

What would be a better wording? whym (talk) 08:52, 29 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

"no guarantee of validity"

This line is difficult to translate because what is "valid" is unclear. (This page is made translatable.) Does that mean information found on Wikimedia Commons, like statements written in file descriptions, categories assigned, might be incorrect? If so, something like "no guarantee of validity of content" might be more clearer. whym (talk) 03:58, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can we replace it with "accuracy" to make it simpler, assuming it's used synonymously here? "accurate" is used elsewhere in the document, and I think it would be simpler to stick with one term (than the two, accurate/accuracy and valid/validity). I'm open to other solutions. This is just one possibility I can think of now. whym (talk) 09:19, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not sure that they are synonymous. "Inaccurate" has a different meaning than "invalid". Inaccurate kind of means "somewhat wrong", while invalid is more like "definitely wrong". Or "making a valid point" is different from "making an accurate point". Nakonana (talk) 16:53, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I suspect (but do not know) that the term "validity" may have been chosen for legal reasons. Before changing it, we should be sure about that one way or the other. - Jmabel ! talk 17:47, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
The wording appears in an early version of English Wikipedia counterpart: [1]. If there is a deep reason for the wording, I don't see it there or its talk page. whym (talk) 11:17, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

update Designated Agent name

Could Amanda Keton's name be replaced with Stephen LaPorte (the Wikimedia Foundation's current General Counsel). Many thanks RStallman (WMF) (talk) 18:46, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
