Views of Schafkampspitze - view from the northwest |
Used in:
de:Liste der Dreitausender in Nordtirol |
Reason:
There are hardly any photos on Commons that even show this mountain. -- Milseburg (talk) |
Comment It would be good to put the view orientation. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:21, 25 August 2025 (UTC) @Archaeodontosaurus: To the scope? It's the view from the northwest. But I think, it's the best view at all, since there is no other image having this mountain as the subjekt. --Milseburg (talk) 14:23, 25 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Generally speaking, for a building, an animal, and a mountain there are several ways to visualize them. For a mountain the north face is different from the south face. There are at least two possible images that are useful. Just add to the scope: "view from the northwest" or "view from the southeast" for both to be eligible...--Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 17:23, 25 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Question Severel ways, indeed, and not just two. From almost every direction, different perspective emerges, as well as from different elevations at different times of day and year. Are they all creating a suitable valuable scope? I really have problems to unterstand the sytem here. --Milseburg (talk) 13:39, 26 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment You just have to put in the scope: view from the Southwest or view from the North... --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 05:41, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Scope:
Motor Tanker RIVAGE. ENI 2104768 Detail behind ship with wheelhouse. |
Comment I think this is a better image as it shows the whole ship from the same angle (cropping would help). The scope needs to be formatted as per other ship VIs. --Tagooty (talk) 15:25, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply] *Thanks for your suggestion. I chose this photo because it captures the living and steering areas well.--Agnes Monkelbaan (talk) 17:45, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Answer: I don't know what you mean by powder tanker, but it's a motor tanker. That's clearly stated in the vessel description. As far as I'm concerned, the ENI number is a good scope. The number belongs to the vessel, while the name sometimes changes regularly.--Agnes Monkelbaan (talk) 15:37, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- When the name changes, the external appearance (paint work, etc) may change, so the convention is to include both a permanent number and the name in the scope. There could be a VI for each name.
For VI of Rivage, I would support the cropped image with the rear view of the full ship. It also shows the details of wheelhouse etc well. --Tagooty (talk) 03:20, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Scope:
Pudumund Police Station (G2 and T4), Ooty |
Used in:
wikidata:Q135998248 |
- @Charlesjsharp: Police stations play several roles in India. The Pudumund Police Station is one of three police stations serving law and order in the town of Ooty -- Pudumund covers the northern part of the town. See the TN Govt Gazzettee pgs. 326-327. To obtain a passport, citizens of this part of Ooty have to get their application verified by the Pudumund police station. See "21. Pudumund" in https://portal1.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/LocatePSAction?d-4021258-p=1&state=32&district=607 . Traffic management and violations in northern Ooty are handled by this police station.
Ooty is a district headquarters, a major tourist destination, an educational hub, the centre of the tea industry in Tamil Nadu, etc. It had a population of over 88,000 in 2011, likely to be over 100,000 today. I hope this is sufficient evidence of notability. --Tagooty (talk) 01:50, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Not for me. Voters here seem to be happy to ignore the VI scope guidelines (have a read please). From what you both say this police station is like hundreds of thousands around the world. Of only local interest. Charlesjsharp (talk) 13:39, 30 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- While the Pudumund Police Station serves ~20-30K local people, I believe it is more than "of only local interest". About 3m tourists visit Ooty annually, and many of them visit Pudumund which includes major tourist attractions. These tourists hail from all parts of India and some come from abroad. Some of these visitors may be involved in traffic or other police issues, so have an interest in the Pudumund Police Station. This police station has appeared in the regional and national publications over more than 15 years: 2009 case and 2023 case in the Madras High Court (the Court serves ~84m people); 2025 news in The Hindu, a reputed national newspaper, etc.
A building of interest to potentially millions of people is likely to figure in some Wikimedia projects, and hence deserves a VI scope. --Tagooty (talk) 03:39, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
