Poor lighting

Hey! I saw how you said that this image had poor lighting. I'm somewhat new to photography and was wondering is it the composition of the photo itself (the sun behind the tower) or just a lack of brightness? • Hi. OK, I think you've possibly asked for a detailed critique, so here goes! Yes Contre-jour is a photography technique but not appropriate for a VI nomination where a well-lit daytime shot is best. It is also slightly dark/underexposed though that can be adjusted. I would include the whole of the building, so you need more at the bottom. Also, the crop at the top is too tight. You could also adjust the perspective so that the verticals are vertical. I never use a 26mm focal lenngth, but a photo using say 50mm, taken from further away, might have been better unless that was impossible.   Thank you so much! It wasn't even my intention to take a contre-jour photo! Right now I'm walking around with my Ricoh GR IIIx HDF to catch what I see. I chose the Ricoh because it's something that's not as intrusive as a whole setup (body and lens) and can be taken almost anywhere easily. Downside is that it has a fixed lens. So that's what I'm working with right now and (I think?) I'm getting some decent results with what I've done so far. I really need to work on the exposure triangle as well, but I think this is just some practice.

  I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this photo thoroughly too, especially with the vertical perspectives. With that, it might have been me not placing the guided upright lines further on the outside of my image (using Lightroom). Anyways, thanks again and I love your images!
